This year, Samaritan warmly welcomes the southern New Jersey community to join the heartfelt tradition of the Tree of Life: Season of Light illumination program. Taking place on Tuesday, December 5 at 7 p.m. at Samaritan’s Mount Laurel headquarters (3906 Church Road), this in-person ceremony marks a poignant return to shared moments of reflection and remembrance after a hiatus since 2019.
Philip W. Heath, President, and CEO of Samaritan expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to be able to host this moving, inspirational program in person once again in 2023 – right at Samaritan’s headquarters in Mount Laurel, the place we call home. The holidays evoke feelings, emotions and memories. Our Tree of Life ceremony has become a time-honored tradition at Samaritan and a wonderful way for us to reflect, remember and, most importantly, celebrate the extraordinary lives of those we love.”
During this touching event, individuals are encouraged to dedicate a symbolic light to the memory of a departed loved one or in honor of someone special in their lives. Open to the public, the ceremony features inspirational readings and soul-stirring music, creating an atmosphere of solace and connection. Attendees can then enjoy refreshments and fellowship, with the first 100 guests receiving a keepsake candle, exclusively crafted for Samaritan by Jersey Girl Candles.
All funds raised during this year’s Tree of Life ceremony will directly contribute to supporting over 11,000 patients and families benefiting from Samaritan’s diverse range of services, including hospice, palliative care, primary care, grief support, education, and advocacy.
Heath emphasized the impact of such support, saying, “Generous support from programs like Tree of Life enables Samaritan to continue providing compassionate, expert care, as well as an array of supportive services for patients and their loved ones to live their best lives every day.”
