As the boating season approaches, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Marlton Flotilla, is gearing up to ensure boaters have the necessary skills and certifications for a safe and enjoyable time on the water. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a novice navigator, it’s never too early to brush up on boating safety and earn your New Jersey Boating Safety Certificate.

Before you set sail this year, mark your calendars for the upcoming boating safety courses offered by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Choose from the following dates and times to find the session that best fits your schedule:

  • April 27 & 28: 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm (Both sessions required)
  • May 16: 11:30 am to 7:30 pm

All courses will take place at the Cinnaminson Library, located at 1619 Riverton Road, Cinnaminson, NJ 08077.

To register for the course, simply contact Auxiliarist Mark Rubino at 609-364-0929. The course fee is $60.00, which covers all instructional materials and certificate processing.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the New Jersey boating certificate, a requirement mandated by the New Jersey State Police for all boaters and personal watercraft operators in the state.

During the course, participants will learn essential skills such as navigation, boating laws, trailer handling, boat storage and maintenance, New Jersey regulations, and how to handle common boating problems. The course strictly adheres to the eight-hour instruction time required by the New Jersey State Police, Marine Division.

Instructors from the Marlton Flotilla bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the course, with backgrounds in power boating, sailing, emergency medical care, navigation, radio communications, and more. Students will receive comprehensive course materials and informative handouts to supplement their learning experience.

Established in 1939, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is the volunteer arm of the United States Coast Guard, dedicated to promoting and improving recreational boating safety. In addition to safety education, the Auxiliary provides trained crews and facilities to support Coast Guard operations and enhance the safety and security of ports, waterways, and coastal regions.
