Macy’s, traditionally known for its sprawling department stores, is embracing a new era of retail with the launch of smaller-format stores. Cherry Hill will soon welcome one of these innovative, compact stores.
The new Macy’s, located in the Garden State Park shopping center, will celebrate its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on May 25.
The concept of small-format stores, which Macy’s first introduced in 2020 in the Dallas area, is designed to help the brand diversify and adapt to the changing retail landscape. By the end of 2023, Macy’s had established a dozen small-format locations and plans to open up to 30 more by the end of next year. Additionally, Macy’s, Inc. has launched smaller Bloomingdale’s locations known as Bloomie’s.
Last month, Macy’s brought this small-format concept to South Jersey with a new store in Mount Laurel, replacing the former Bed Bath & Beyond. The Cherry Hill location at Garden State Park will follow suit, occupying the space once held by Bed Bath & Beyond.
Each small-format Macy’s store spans about 30,000 to 50,000 square feet, roughly a fifth the size of traditional Macy’s stores. Despite these changes, Macy’s continues to operate its three-floor anchor store at the Cherry Hill Mall.
The grand opening at Garden State Park will feature live music, giveaways, and local vendors, offering a festive atmosphere to welcome the new store. The store is located at 2130 Route 70 W, Suite D.
Join the celebration and explore the new, compact Macy’s that aims to provide a more tailored and convenient shopping experience.
