As with many suburban towns in America, Cherry Hill has become increasingly diverse in recent years. As the town’s population continues to grow, so too does the need for efforts to promote inclusion and equity. Fortunately, community members and leaders in Cherry Hill have taken notice and are actively working to create a more welcoming and supportive environment for all.

One organization at the forefront of these efforts is the Cherry Hill African American Civic Association (CHAACA). Founded in 1970, CHAACA seeks to promote the social, economic, and cultural advancement of African Americans in Cherry Hill and beyond. The organization offers a variety of programs and services, including scholarship opportunities, job training, and community events.

Another organization focused on promoting diversity in Cherry Hill is the Cherry Hill Human Relations Advisory Committee (HRC). The HRC works to foster understanding and respect between all members of the community, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. The committee hosts educational events and workshops, as well as working to enforce anti-discrimination laws and policies.

Additionally, Cherry Hill Public Schools have made a concerted effort to promote diversity and inclusion in the classroom. The district offers programs and resources to support students from a variety of backgrounds and has implemented diversity and cultural sensitivity training for staff members.

While progress has been made, there is still work to be done to ensure that all members of the Cherry Hill community feel welcome and valued. By supporting organizations like CHAACA and the HRC, as well as advocating for policies and programs that promote inclusion and equity, we can continue to build a stronger and more diverse community in Cherry Hill.
