Local baseball fans and wine enthusiasts are in for a treat as former Phillies pitcher Joe Blanton, a key player from the 2008 World Series-winning team, is set to headline an exclusive event at a Cherry Hill restaurant.
Caffe Aldo Lamberti will host a private dinner featuring Blanton, who transitioned from the mound to the vineyard after retiring from professional baseball. Blanton, alongside his wife LeeAndra, founded Selah Wines in Napa Valley, California.
Blanton’s passion for wine began during his time with the Oakland Athletics, where team dinners often featured fine wines. His interest deepened after joining the Phillies in 2008, where he used his downtime to study wine and participate in tastings with teammates. This passion ultimately led the Blantons to purchase a vineyard in 2014, and Joe fully immersed himself in the winemaking business after retiring from baseball in 2017.
The upcoming event at Caffe Aldo Lamberti (2011 Marlton Pike) will include a multi-course meal paired with selections from Selah Wines. The dinner is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on June 19.
For those interested in attending, the full menu is available on Caffe Aldo Lamberti’s website. Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at 856-663-1747.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to enjoy fine wines and gourmet food while mingling with a local sports legend turned winemaker.
