In a heartwarming start to the new year, a South Jersey family celebrated the arrival of twins, Ezekiel and Ezra, born just 40 minutes apart at Voorhees Virtua Hospital. What makes their entrance into the world even more remarkable is that one was born on New Year’s Eve, while the other made his debut on New Year’s Day.
Ezra, the firstborn, entered the world at 11:48 p.m., weighing in at 4 pounds, 15 ounces, and measuring 18 inches long. Shortly after the ball dropped, Ezekiel followed at 12:28 a.m., weighing 4 pounds and measuring 17 inches long. The dual celebration added an extra layer of joy for their parents, Eve and Billy, who already had a special connection to the holiday season.
The timing of the twins’ arrival aligns with the parents’ own birthdays, making it an even more memorable time for the family. Eve was born on December 7, while Billy shares a birthday with Ezra on December 31. Adding to the festivities, their oldest son, Hezekiah, is set to celebrate his birthday on January 3, creating a unique cluster of family celebrations during this time of the year.
While the family rejoices in the unique and heartwarming coincidence of welcoming twins in different years, it’s worth noting that globally, hundreds of thousands of babies are born on New Year’s Day. UNICEF estimated a staggering 371,504 births on January 1, 2021, with Fiji traditionally welcoming the first New Year babies before American newborns close out the day.
The story of Ezekiel and Ezra adds a personal touch to the broader celebration of new beginnings, showcasing the joy and excitement that accompanies the arrival of little ones, especially when they bring such special moments and memories into their families’ lives.
