Prepare for a winter wonderland as a winter storm warning has been issued for inland South Jersey, forecasting up to 6 inches of snow in the upcoming storm. Weather officials project the peak of snow accumulation to occur on Friday morning.

The warning covers Camden, Gloucester, Salem, and northwestern Burlington counties, and is in effect from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the expected snowfall during this period ranges from 5 to 6 inches.

The NWS warns of potentially challenging travel conditions, stating, “Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.” Temperatures are expected to rapidly drop into the teens late Friday night, leaving untreated roads icy and dangerous.

For those who must venture out, the NWS recommends keeping an extra flashlight, food, and water in vehicles in case of emergencies. Stay informed about road conditions by calling 511 for the latest updates.

The snowfall is anticipated to blanket the region on Friday, reaching its peak between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. Totals of 4 to 6 inches are predicted for much of inland South Jersey.

Here’s the latest forecast for South Jersey according to the NWS:

  • Thursday night: A chance of snow, mainly after 3 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 27. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Friday: Snow. High near 32. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
  • Friday night: Snow likely, mainly before 11 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 15. Northwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
  • Saturday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 26. Blustery, with a northwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
  • Saturday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 30. Blustery.
