Camden, New Jersey — A tragic incident unfolded early Tuesday morning in the City of Camden, resulting in two men being shot, one of whom tragically lost his life, according to authorities.

The incident took place around 1 a.m. at the lobby of the Northgate 1 apartment building. Following reports of shots fired at the location, local law enforcement swiftly responded. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered two victims who had sustained gunshot wounds. Both victims were immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital for medical treatment.

Regrettably, Quashawn Smith, a 21-year-old resident of Camden, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 1:42 a.m. on Tuesday, as confirmed by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO). The other victim, a 20-year-old West Deptford resident, remains alive, though authorities have chosen not to disclose his identity publicly at this time.

In light of this tragic incident, law enforcement agencies are actively conducting an investigation to ascertain the details and circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
