In a daring rescue operation, emergency responders successfully extricated a woman who fell about 20 feet down a well in Pilesgrove Township, Salem County, on Monday afternoon. The incident, which took place inside a private residence, required the collaboration of over a dozen agencies to execute the intricate rescue.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., first responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the woman’s fall and potential ankle fracture. The situation’s complexity prompted officials to request a second alarm, which brought additional support to the scene, as reported by the Woodstown-based Reliance Fire Company.

The rescue operation was anything but straightforward. It took more than an hour of determined efforts to free the victim from knee-deep mud and stabilize her fractured leg. Despite the challenges, the responders demonstrated exceptional skill and professionalism throughout the rescue mission.

Once the woman was secured, a Medi-Vac helicopter airlifted her to Christiana Hospital in Delaware for further medical attention. Fortunately, State Police confirmed that her injuries were non-life-threatening.

Several local agencies played crucial roles in the rescue effort, showcasing their commitment to serving the community in times of need. Thanks to the tireless efforts of these dedicated responders, the woman received timely medical attention and was transported safely to the hospital for treatment and recovery. Their commitment to the community and their ability to work seamlessly together are a testament to the importance of well-trained and coordinated emergency services.
