Early Friday morning, the Cherry Hill Fire Department sprang into action as they received reports of a developing fire at Henry C. Beck Middle School. At approximately 1:19 a.m., fire officials arrived at the scene to find a smoke condition within the building, with a small fire observed on the roof, as stated in a press release by the Cherry Hill Fire Department.
With utmost efficiency, the firefighters swiftly extinguished the flames within an hour, preventing any further escalation of the situation. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries, and the damage was fortunately contained to the roof area.
According to Cherry Hill Fire Department Fire Marshal Joseph Cornforth, the board of education is presently coordinating roof work at several local schools, including Henry C. Beck Middle School. The cause of the fire has been determined as accidental, attributed to torch work carried out on the roof the previous day.
