The concert was meant to be the third and final installment of this summer’s “Music Under the Stars” series, a beloved annual event held at the Barclay Farmstead. Unfortunately, this cancelation brings an abrupt end to Cherry Hill’s cherished outdoor-concert series for this season.
Stormy weather entered South Jersey during the afternoon hours on Tuesday, leading the National Weather Service to issue a severe thunderstorm watch for the entire state, lasting until 8 p.m. that evening. The forecast included the possibility of frequent lightning and scattered gusts reaching up to 70 mph, as well as isolated hail, which could be as large as ping pong balls.
The afternoon forecast for Tuesday predicted a chance of showers and thunderstorms, with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m. The day was expected to be partly sunny, with a high temperature near 89 degrees and a southwest wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation was estimated to be around 60 percent, with anticipated rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch.
For Tuesday night, the weather forecast suggested a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., followed by a slight chance of showers between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. The night was expected to be mostly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to a low around 67 degrees. The south wind around 5 mph was expected to become calm in the evening, with a 40 percent chance of precipitation. Rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch were predicted, with the possibility of higher amounts in the event of thunderstorms.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, the weather was expected to improve with sunny skies and a high temperature near 90 degrees. The wind would be calm, gradually becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
