This Thursday marks a sweet new beginning for Classic Cake as they celebrate the grand re-opening of their Cherry Hill store, which has been without a permanent home since the devastating fire at Short Hills Plaza in 2020. The bakery, a beloved fixture in the community for over three decades, is reopening its doors at the Short Hills Shopping Center, promising new flavors and classic favorites under the guidance of newly appointed Executive Pastry Chef, Michael J. D’Angelo.
Chef D’Angelo, a distinguished figure in the culinary world, brings over 35 years of experience in dessert creation and pastry excellence to Classic Cake. His illustrious career is marked by a profound expertise that marries artistic flair with meticulous execution, traits that have earned him the title of Pastry Chef of the Year twice by the American Culinary Federation South Jersey Chapter in 2009 and 2019.
“Joining Classic Cake feels like a natural progression in my career, and I am excited to bring my vision to a place that holds such a storied reputation in both the local community and the broader culinary scene,” said Chef D’Angelo. His training includes stints at the prestigious Ecole Valrhona Chocolate Course in Tain L’Hermitage, France, and a specialized Sorbet and Ice Cream seminar at Ravifruit in Anneyron, France.
The re-opening event promises to be an affair to remember, starting at 8 a.m. and offering visitors a first look at the newly designed space along with samples of their exceptional products. Classic Cake’s menu features a blend of signature cakes, cookies, and high-production cheesecakes, each crafted with locally sourced, high-quality ingredients.
“Our commitment to quality and innovation is at the forefront of our operations, and with Chef D’Angelo at the helm, we’re poised to elevate every dessert experience,” said Barry Kratchman, president of Classic Cake.
Classic Cake has evolved from a local bakery to a leader in the dessert industry, serving an array of wholesale, retail, and private label clients on regional, national, and international levels. The company prides itself on its artisanal touches, collaborative approach with clients, and a commitment to quality that ensures every dessert not only meets but exceeds customer expectations.
The community is invited to join the celebration this Thursday to taste and see how Classic Cake continues to innovate while staying true to the traditions that have made it a cornerstone in Cherry Hill for years. For those looking to indulge in gourmet pastries and exquisite desserts, the doors of Classic Cake at 486 Evesham Rd are open, welcoming everyone to be part of this new chapter.
