Attention, dog lovers of Cherry Hill! There’s an exciting development for our furry friends in town: the grand opening of the newly revamped dog park at Cooper River Park.
Gone are the days of cramped quarters and limited amenities. The updated space boasts separate sections for small and large dogs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for pups of all sizes. What’s more, the addition of agility equipment adds an extra element of fun and exercise for our four-legged companions.
But that’s not all. The makeover includes comfortable seating options like benches and picnic tables, allowing pet parents to relax and socialize while their dogs frolic and play. Plus, a new viewing area provides the perfect vantage point to watch your furry friends in action.
Construction on the project began last fall, with the Camden County Parks Department investing $775,000 to bring the vision to life. This renovation is part of the larger Parks Alive 2025 initiative, which aims to revitalize parks and green spaces throughout the county.
“We are thrilled to open this dog park as it was a highly anticipated project from our residents,” said County Commissioner Jeff Nash, who oversees the parks department. “We used community feedback to guide us through this process, and we think this new space will please everyone.”
The extensive renovations included demolishing the old dog park and making significant improvements to the surrounding area. From new fencing and walkways to upgraded parking facilities and landscaping, no detail was overlooked in creating a top-notch recreational space for our canine companions.
So, grab your leash and head over to Cooper River Park to experience Cherry Hill’s newest canine hotspot. With plenty of room to run, play, and socialize, it’s sure to become a favorite destination for dogs and their owners alike.
