Haason Reddick, a Camden native and NFL linebacker, recently bid farewell to his hometown team, the Philadelphia Eagles, after being traded to the New York Jets. Despite the change, Reddick made sure to acknowledge his South Jersey roots and express gratitude to those who supported him throughout his career.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Reddick expressed his appreciation to the Eagles organization for the opportunity to play in his home city. “This was a dream for any kid growing up in Camden,” he wrote. Reddick also thanked his family, acknowledging their unwavering support as the backbone of his success.
The city of Camden reciprocated the sentiment, praising Reddick as “a tremendous role model for young people in Camden and beyond” in a Facebook post.
During his two seasons with the Eagles, Reddick made a significant impact, earning Pro Bowl honors twice and tallying an impressive 27 sacks. However, the Eagles and Jets finalized a trade deal, with Philadelphia acquiring a 2026 third-round draft pick in exchange for Reddick, with the potential for it to become a second-rounder under certain conditions.
Reports suggest that Reddick had sought a contract extension with the Eagles, but the team opted to facilitate a trade instead. Despite the change in scenery, Reddick remains grateful for the opportunities he had in Philadelphia.
Before his time with the Eagles, Reddick attended Haddon Heights High School and played college football at Temple University in Philadelphia. He previously had stints with the Arizona Cardinals (2017-20) and the Carolina Panthers (2021) before joining the Eagles.
As Reddick embarks on a new chapter with the Jets, his dedication to his hometown and appreciation for the support he received along the way serve as a testament to his character and the values instilled in him growing up in Camden.
