As the weekend approaches, Cherry Hill residents are keeping a close eye on the latest weather forecast, anticipating a mix of rain and snow in the region. While the possibility of accumulating snow in Cherry Hill remains uncertain, meteorologists predict a wet weekend with intermittent snowfall.

The coastal system set to move through the area is expected to bring widespread precipitation starting Saturday afternoon, extending into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Although significant snowfall is anticipated in many parts of the state, the NWS foresees primarily rain for areas near and southeast of Interstate 95, including Cherry Hill.

Despite the potential for snow in the forecast, the NWS indicates that little to no snow accumulation is expected in Cherry Hill. The coastal system will progress from southwest to northeast, reaching its peak precipitation on Saturday evening before tapering off overnight. Light precipitation may persist into Sunday morning.

Southeast of the I-95 corridor, forecasters predict 0.5-1 inch of rain, with localized totals possibly reaching 1.5 inches. While the risk of flash flooding is considered “marginal at best,” low-lying or poorly drained areas may experience minor flooding, as per the NWS.

Inland areas may experience gusts up to 30 mph, but significant wind impacts are not anticipated in the Cherry Hill area. It’s essential to note that the snowfall forecast is subject to change, and residents are encouraged to stay updated on the latest predictions from the NWS.

Cherry Hill, coming off a winter with minimal snow accumulation, has experienced a season with less than an inch of snow on the ground, according to the state climatologist’s office. In preparation for potential future snowfall, residents can refer to the township’s guidelines for smoother snow removal.
