Cherry Hill, a community known for its diversity and unity, is coming together to show its support for Israel during challenging times. The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey has organized an Israel Solidarity Gathering to stand with the nation and its people. The event is scheduled for Tuesday evening at Temple Beth Sholom, located at 1901 Kresson Road.
The gathering is set to commence at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. This event is an opportunity for the community to come together in support of Israel and its people during a difficult period.
Cherry Hill Township Council, which originally had a meeting scheduled for the same evening, decided to postpone the meeting until October 16. This decision was made “in light of the tragic events in Israel and the numerous community gatherings taking place on Tuesday evening,” according to the Council.
For those attending the Israel Solidarity Gathering, overflow parking will be available at Chabad Lubavitch in Cherry Hill. Additionally, a shuttle bus service will be provided from the Katz KCC Community Center in the township, starting at 6:30 p.m.
The gathering takes place during a period of escalated violence between Palestine and Israel. Palestinian militant groups recently initiated a large-scale offensive that resulted in breaching the Gaza-Israel barrier. This escalation has led to tragic consequences, with more than 1,000 Israelis and 788 Palestinians losing their lives, and thousands more on both sides have been injured since the Hamas-led uprising began on Saturday. The situation is a cause for concern for people across the globe.
Cherry Hill’s council and Mayor Susan Shin Angulo have issued statements expressing solidarity with Israel during these trying times. This gathering serves as a demonstration of the community’s empathy and support for Israel, showcasing the strength of unity in times of adversity.
